To the world ...

Ever since our new In'spire dies arrived from Spellbinders I have been looking at the beautiful Typewriter die with a particular project in mind.  

I knew exactly what I wanted to do .. all planned out in my head but no time to sit down and create it ... until today!

I wanted to use the die to create a Fathers Day card but it could work just as nicely for a Birthday or an Anniversary card.  Any card where you want to tell someone how special they are.

The quote is a slightly adapted version of a famous quote from Dr. Seuss ...

'To the world you may be one person;

but to one person you may be the world'

I wanted to make it a little more personal and so changed the last line so that it read ...

'but to me you are the world'

I kept the author's name at the bottom of the quote to make it look a little more quirky. {Hope you don't mind me changing it a little Dr Seuss!}

I used grey cardstock from the Black & White Textura card pack as well as two shades of brown cardstock from the Nature pack to create the card.  The card in the packs have a lovely texture to them, much like Bazzill basics canvas card and the colours coordinate well with each other.  The 6"x6" pads are great for cardmaking as well as scrapbooking or using in your Die Cutting machines.

After trimming the grey card to fit a white base card, I rounded the corners and edged with a little peanut ink and a sponge. This was then stuck into place on the base card.

The typewriter die was cut from both the mid tone brown and a dark brown from the Nature pack of card.  I edged the lighter typewriter with a little Rich Cocoa ink and a sponge and adhered to the dark brown typewriter so that it is just offset and you can see the dark brown underneath.  

A glue pen will be best to stick this.

Using letter stamps (I used a set of lovely little wodden stamps from Trimcraft which are not in stock a the moment but should be back in soon) I added the text to the top of the card.  

Two slits were created along the spine of the card with a knife so that the bakers twine could be fed through.  The knot ties underneath the typewriter which has been raised up with foam pads.

Finally, the little hearts were punched from a tiny Woodware heart punch and a black gel pen was used to add detail around areas of the card.
